A few years ago I attended Compline (night prayer) at St. Joseph's Cathedral here in Columbus. At the time, Compline was at 9pm, so the cathedral was dark and lit only by a few candles-- an environment very conducive to reflection. A captivating setting of Psalm 91 was sung by the choir. In particular, the words of the refrain caught my attention: "He will conceal you in His wings. You will not fear the terror of the night." At the time, I was in the process of writing my book, Nazar's Journey. The scene under the stars, which later became one of the pivotal scenes of the story, appeared vividly in my imagination. Having escaped from the terrorism confronting their Nineveh village, Amira and Nazar, in a brief moment of peace, gaze at the heavens and wonder what the future might bring. Thanks to Dr. Fitzgerald, the choir director, I recently received a recording of this beautiful musical composition, and was able to post it on my website nazarsjourney.com so I can share it with you. This piece of music not only inspired the creation of an important scene in my book, but later inspired the artist, Qais Al-Sindy, to create a painting which he entitled He Will Conceal You in His Wings. Amazing to consider what one beautiful piece of music can do! You can find the MP3 and the painting on the art page of my website. https://lnkd.in/gxey8wTu
